Milestone Perennial Flowers: a beautiful reminder of happy times

Everyone has special dates:  birthdays, anniversaries, kid's milestones. One simple way to mark a meaningful milestone is to plant a seasonal perennial flower in the garden right around the time of the milestone. Properly maintained, it will offer a small visual reminder of the happy event as it blooms each year.

For example, we planted these lovely lilies last year to commemorate our baby girl's baptism. As they bloom this year, I remember the joy we had as we dedicated our firstborn to God.

To an outsider, the flowers are just pretty. To us, they are a beautiful illustration in a book called "Our Life Together". This is one small way we're taking a house and making it into our home.
